PMO Development

Define and Prioritize your Strategic Imperatives for the short, mid, and long-term

Overview

Understand the Current State:

  1. What is the current condition for the core business process?

  2. How does the high-level core business process behave?

  3. What opportunities exist to improve the core business process?

  4. What are the top activities or projects to be carried out?

How it works?

Strategy Development and Deployment is the first part in the implementation of an Operational Excellence Management System.

The first part is to perform a scan of the current situation using the Operational Excellence Assessment Tool, taking into account the:

  1. Elements of Organizational Alignment

  2. Elements of Strategic Planning

  3. Elements of Operational Excellence

  4. Elements of Perceived Process Waste

The second part is the high-level Value Stream Mapping Exercise, which is accomplished by:

  1. The mapping of the value stream of the current state

  2. The design of the future state value stream

  3. The work plan to close the gaps

The third and final part is the development of the Strategy Deployment Plan through:

  1. The Preparation of background market and other information for the Strategy Deployment Plan

  2. The Preparation of the Strategy Deployment Plan

  3. The Prioritization of Activities for the Strategy Deployment Plan

The Goals

  • To create a consensual plan: involve senior management and middle management in developing an executable plan with priorities.

  • To develop a deployable plan: Through a practice called “passing the ball,” review the plan and its impact at all levels of the organization.

  • To provide clarity: that all business areas and all levels effectively understand where the organization is going and what steps it will take to reach that goal.

The Opportunity

  • Opportunity #1: Determine the current level of strategic alignment.

  • Opportunity #2: Identify current process waste levels.

  • Opportunity #3: Identify projects that do not add value to the strategy.

The Solution

  • Solution #1: Create strategies that align the organization

  • Solution #2: Identify future levels of process waste (reduced or eliminated)

  • Solution #3: Identify key improvement projects that are linked to the company's strategic objectives.
